As a Fitness Trainer, when it comes to exercise I encourage my clients to find some activities that they enjoy and that don’t feel like “exercise”. You know, something you can do with friends and have a blast doing together. If you’re an adventurous type and like being outdoors, you may want to consider mountain biking for fitness.

For many of my clients cycling is a great option. It doesn’t matter whether you ride on paved roads, on the local rail trails or out in the woods mountain biking. The point is that you enjoy it so that you look forward to doing it!

I’m one of those adventurous types that loves mountain biking for fitness out in the woods. And I’m a certified Mountain Bike (MTB) Instructor! If mountain biking is something you’d like to learn how to do, I’d be happy to help you with private mountain bike coaching or in one of my MTB skills clinics.There are clinics just for women as well as co-ed clinics available.

These MTB skills clinics are seasonal. They generally start at the beginning of May and are scheduled on the weekends through the end of October. Many are held in Connecticut, but I’ve also branched out to the Pittsfield, MA and Boston, MA areas so I can help more people learn how to ride better and safer in the woods and have more fun on their bikes.

Other Types of Outdoor Exercise

Of course, you don’t have to be a cyclist to get outdoor exercise. There are many opportunities in the beautiful Farmington Valley and Northwest areas of Connecticut to enjoy activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, downhill skiing, cross country skiing and much more.

Try out some different activities and get your friends involved. You may also be able to find some local groups online that you can join and experience the great outdoors with them.
